Peter Isler to Host Advanced Racing Tactics Seminar

MARINA DEL REY — Champion sailor Peter Isler will host an Advanced Racing Tactics Seminar at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 4 at  California Yacht Club. The seminar is for racers who want to improve their tactical racing skills. In addition to discussing tactics, Isler will answer questions from attendees.

The event, sponsored by South Bay Yacht Racing Club in association with California YC, supports the Peter Isler Fund for the Benefit of Junior Sailing, which helps young Southern California sailors compete nationally.

Isler has raced in major events around the world. He has been on five America’s Cup teams, winning the Cup twice. He was the top-ranked U.S. skipper on the Professional Match Racing Circuit for five years, cementing his reputation as a superb tactician. He has also won numerous major offshore competitions, including the Transpac Race (record-setter), Pineapple Cup (record-holder) and Pacific Cup. He has been director of the American Sailing Association since 1983.

The event is limited to 250 people. California Yacht Club is located at 4469 Admiralty Way. Those who wish to register online may do so in advance at regattanetwork.com.

A donation of $10 will be requested at the door. The event organizers are also offering a copy of Isler’s newest book, “The Little Blue Book of Sailing Secrets,” for a $30 donation.

Complimentary beverages will be provided for those 21 and older, and a full no-host bar will also be open.
