San Diego hosts Day at the Docks, April 19
SAN DIEGO — Anglers – both experts and those looking to break into the fishing scene – can enjoy a day of all things sportfishing at the Port of San Diego’s 37th annual Day at the Docks, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 19. The free event boasts the latest in fishing gear, along with seminars and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Held at the San Diego Sportfishing Landings in Point Loma, the day signifies the official start of Southern California’s spring saltwater fishing season. Highlights include boat rides on San Diego Bay; Kids’ Fishing Adventures sponsored by Okuma Fishing Tackle & Everingham Bros. Bait Company that sets aside areas stocked with fish where children ages 4 to 12 can reel in a catch with expert help.
Other attractions include fishing seminars and a special Catch, Prep and Cook Center where chefs will demonstrate how to best prepare and cook catches. Guests can also tour the San Diego sportfishing fleet, where they can chat with boat captains and jump aboard various vessels.
Seeker Rods and Avet Reels will sponsor a casting contest for everyone at H&M Landing and the Izorline knot tying competition will be held throughout the day at the Izorline exhibit booth.
Live entertainment, food vendors, raffles and other contests are scheduled during the free event.
Free parking and free round-trip shuttle service to and from the festival is offered from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
