Strictly Sail Long Beach Boat Show Opens Oct. 18

LONG BEACH — Strictly Sail Long Beach is scheduled to cruise into Rainbow Harbor Oct. 18-21, offering one-stop sailing shopping, a wide selection of new and pre-owned boats, on-the-water fun and educational seminars for boaters of all experience levels. The show is produced by the National Marine Manufacturers Association and NMMA West.

Known formerly as the Long Beach Boat and Yacht Show, the reformatted Strictly Sail show will debut at Shoreline Village in Rainbow Harbor, 401 Shoreline Village Drive.

The four-day event will feature more than 60 sailboats of all shapes and sizes, hundreds of sailing accessories and the largest series of educational seminars in the region, plus a variety of attractions for sailors of all experience levels looking to get off the dock.

“From experienced skippers to new beginners, Strictly Sail Long Beach is the ultimate destination for sailing and water enthusiasts of any level,” said show manager Dave Geoffrey, of NMMA West. “In addition to entry-level boats, 50-foot luxury cruisers, and hundreds of sailing products for sale, Strictly Sail Long Beach is a hands-on, interactive event that provides guests the ideal opportunity to discover sailing.”

During the show, attendees will have the opportunity to shop and climb aboard a variety of sailboats, catamarans and personal watercraft, browse the latest sailing gear and accessories, and enjoy a variety of sailing activities and educational seminars.

Show hours are noon to 7 p.m. Oct 18-19, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 20 and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 21. Admission to Strictly Sail Long Beach is $10 for adults; free for youths 15 and younger, accompanied by an adult; and free for active military personnel with ID. A two-day show pass is $15.

At this year’s show, boaters will find events and seminars running throughout the four-day event, including:

Take the Helm with Discover Boating — Boaters can set sail in Rainbow Harbor during 30-and 90-minute hands-on skill-building clinics, along with three-hour seminars aboard sailboats. These educational opportunities will be taught by American Sailing Association-certified instructors who are professional Coast Guard-licensed captains. Topics will include: Introduction to Sailing, Docking Under Power and Close Quarters Boat Control, and Introduction to Cruising Catamarans. Advance registration is recommended. Additional fees may apply.

Sailing Simulator — Show-goers can experience the thrill of sailing with the show’s dry-land sailing simulator, without leaving shore.

Try It Cove — Show attendees can discover the latest fitness and water sports craze of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), kick back in a kayak or step aboard a small sailboat. Guests are encouraged to “try it” for themselves, in the water at Rainbow Harbor.

Strictly Sail Seminar Series — Show visitors will get a rare opportunity to learn from world-renowned pros during more than 60 exclusive sailing seminars, with topics ranging from Sailing Made Easy and Coastal Cruising to Safety and Weather. These complimentary courses will cover topics of interest to advanced sailors and new skippers alike.

Cruisers’ Outpost Bash — At this event held after show hours Oct. 20, show-goers can mix and mingle with fellow sailors in a post-show party atmosphere with live entertainment, beverages and food.
