WSA Hosts Presentation on Women on the Water/Women at Helm Regatta

MARINA DEL REY — The Women’s Sailing Association (WSA) of Santa Monica Bay will share the Association of Santa Monica Yacht Clubs’ (ASMBYC) rich sailing history during a special presentation, Aug. 13.
Sailors will enjoy a night of race talk at the presentation, as ASMBYC Women’s Sailing Coordinator Sasha Zaripov discusses the tradition and history of the Women on the Water/Women at Helm Regatta (WOW/WAH), along with a multimedia presentation on the race. This year’s regatta is Aug. 24-25 on Santa Monica Bay.
Tidbits of the regatta’s history and information on how to get involved in the competition will be discussed. Additionally, a panel of past winners, new skippers, past regatta chairs and those who have lent their boats to women skippers will be available for questions from the audience.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a social hour, no-host cocktails and a hosted dinner, with the meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m. and the speaker presentation starting at 8 p.m. at Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club, 13589 Mindanao Way.
