Letter to the Editor — Leaving Outboards Unlocked Is Asking for Trouble
Byline: Todd Setzer
I’m a regular reader of The Log. Great paper!
This is my first letter to any editor, and it is in reference to the article, “Long Beach Outboard Engine Theft Ring Busted, Police Say,” in the Oct. 12-25 issue.
Not locking your motor is like leaving your laptop computer or other valuable items on the front seat of your car with the window down — very stupid, and an invitation to theft.
This shouldn’t be my problem, but it is now. As a taxpayer, I’m now paying for 3,000 locks provided by the federal government, to be given to idiots who aren’t smart enough and/or are too cheap to buy a locking device to protect their own property.
Unbelievable!
