DPYC’s Annual Richard Henry Dana Charity Regatta Returns to Benefit the Community
DANA POINT— The Dana Point Yacht Club (DPYC) will host the 2023 Richard Henry Dana Charity Regatta from Sept. 9-10.
As an annual event in the harbor, the Charity Regatta’s mission is to bring together Dana Point’s community businesses and civic and social leaders with its boating members to raise money to benefit the community in South Orange County. Again, this prestigious event intends to be the sailing and social event of the year. Since its inception, the Richard Henry Dana Charity Regatta has raised over $750 thousand for local charities through corporate donations, sponsorships, and individual contributions.
DPYC’s annual Richard Henry Dana Charity Regatta has a rich history of contributing to several South Orange County charitable organizations. This year’s recipient is unique because of the organization’s transformational impact on underprivileged youth. This year’s beneficiary is the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley (BGCCV).
The BGCCV exists to meet the comprehensive educational, recreational, and social needs of young people in the Capistrano community, especially those socioeconomically disadvantaged, disenfranchised, and marginalized. The organization’s mission is briefly summarized by its commitment to do “whatever it takes to build great futures.” Now serving over 1,200 kids annually, the club’s impact is confirmed beneficial because 99 percent of its members graduate from high school, with many attending college and productive careers.
The DPYC will host an invite-only ‘Thank You’ reception and dinner for sponsors on Sept. 8. The 2023 sponsors are:
– Papa’s Pilar Rum
– Horizon Sales
– Sonance Foundation
– The Ranch at Laguna Beach
– Gallagher’s Finishing Touch Engraving
– Nordhavn Yachts
– Tito’s Vodka
– Rainbow Sandals
– The Marriott
– Caliber Collision
The event will include a culinary experience and a preview of the silent and live auction items that will be featured at the Grand Regattas Party and Auction on the evening of Sept. 9. The Grand Regatta Party is extending an invitation to anyone who enjoys food and drinks, music, dancing, raffles, and live and silent auctions. Saturday will also have a Landlubber Cornhole Tournament open to all club members, their guests, and the public. Awards will be presented immediately following the tournament.
A Junior Regatta will take place on Sept. 10, with trophy presentations following the races.
