DWYC hosts 2015 annual Charity Regatta
DANA POINT — Dana West Yacht Club will continue its annual tradition of hosting a Charity Regatta, which raises funds for several local nonprofits, from June 5-7 in Dana Point Harbor.
The annual event is held over the course of three days and benefits Dana Point’s 5th Marine Regiment Support Group and Art & Creativity for Healing.
This year marks the regatta’s 18th year run.
“Dana West Yacht Club has a long-standing tradition of supporting our military, especially those from Camp Pendleton, through our Holiday Armed Forces Dinners and golf tournaments,” said Dana West YC Commodore Tim Randall. “We are extremely excited to extend our support this year to the Dana Point 5th Regiment Support Group and Art & Creativity for Healing.”
The three-day regatta, to be held off the coast of Dana Point Harbor, will be open to both PHRF and Cruiser classes. The June 5 race is a course from Newport Beach to Dana Point and open to PHRF and Cruising classes. A wine tasting and music will be provided at 6 p.m. at the club.
The June 6 race consists of two Buoy Races for the PHRF class entries and one Random Leg Race for cruises. A Dinghy Poker Run, junior sailing and a silent auction will also be held.
The regatta will conclude with all boats racing a Random Leg Race on June 7. An awards ceremony and music are also scheduled.
“We look forward to fun, competitive races, a great auction, and donating all the proceeds to these worthy organizations,” Randall said.
Race entry forms and information on the regatta can be found online at dwyc.org.
