Intergalactic Sabot Regatta goes to the dogs

SAN DIEGO — Racers brought their dogs onboard during Southwestern Yacht Club’s 13th annual Intergalactic Sabot Regatta where the pooches provided tactical advice as their owners navigated the racecourse.
Founded in 2004, the regatta has been held in Playa Cove since that time and lures sailors throughout San Diego County to head down to the club to participate in the fun event.
This year a total of 30 boats hit the water.
Trophy winners: Single Handed: 1st: Scott Finkbone; 2nd: Danny North; 3rd: Betty Becker. Double Handed: 1st: Stacy Szabo and daughter; 2nd: Matt Anderson and daughter; 3rd: Elyse Lowe and Gavin. K9: 1st: Claire Roberts; 2nd: Sandy Vissan with Ewok and OB One; 3rd: Jay and Elizabeth Sullivan with Bubbles.
