Santa Barbara Sailing Club hosts Goblin Regatta, Oct. 27-28

PHRF and one-designs will compete in their respective classes one week after local yacht club hosts similar event.

SANTA BARBARA — Halloween comes to the shores of Santa Barbara a few days early, as the local sailing club will host the Goblin Regatta on Oct. 27-28. The race takes place one week after Santa Barbara Yacht Club hosts its Goblin Optimist Regatta, Oct. 20-21.

Santa Barbara Sailing Club is the organizing body behind the Goblin Regatta, held the weekend before Halloween. The regatta is open to all one-designs and PHRF classes. At least two boats must be in a class for it to qualify as a race.

Racing will take place just beyond the entrance of Santa Barbara Harbor and along Ledbetter Beach. Trophies will be presented depending upon how many entries are received. Dinner and drinks will be available after racing.

Classes eligible to participate in this regatta are: Harbor 20, Feva, PHRF/Santa 20/SC 20, J70, Viper, J24, Laser/Radial/Aero, Mercury and Melges 24.

Optimist class members will participate in the Goblin Optimist Regatta, held at Santa Barbara YC on Oct. 20 and 21. Two sailing fleets will compete in this race: Green Fleet in the harbor area, and Championship Fleet on the ocean. The regatta includes a costume contest, held before racing on Oct. 21.
