Santa Barbara Yacht Club hosts two-day sailing event, Holiday Regatta

Open to all fleet classes, the Holiday Regatta wraps up the yacht club’s Challenge Cup Series.

SANTA BARBARA — Santa Barbara Yacht Club (SBYC) will deck the docks with holiday racers during the annual Holiday Regatta, the final installment of SBYC’s Challenge Cup Series. This annual sailing event will span over the weekend of Dec. 1-2, and will be open all fleets including Performance Handicap Racing Fleets (PHRF) and one design vessels.

Sailors can check-in at the front desk of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club before the event. According to the Notice of Race (NOR), the race will start within two miles of the Santa Barbara Harbor entrance. A copy of the course chart can be accessed on SBYC’s official website.

Out-of-town participants in the regatta are offered free first-come-first-served berthing. Those who are interested can contact frontdesk@sbyc.org. Reservations are required in order to secure a spot.

For each regatta, there will be prizes awarded to the top participants. Winners of the series will have their names engraved onto the SBYC Challenge Cup. There will also be some celebratory activities after the sailing events are completed held at Santa Barbara Yacht Club.
