Wind a no show for Frenchy’s Rum Run

VENTURA — The 12th annual Ventura Sailing Club’s Frenchy’s Rum Run experienced a high boater turnout but very little wind, which made for an interesting race as several boats failed to cross the finish line.

The 29-nautical-mile race course was cut down to 13 nautical miles due to the wind’s failure to join the party on June 25. The finish line was moved from Ventura harbor to the buoy in Frenchy’s Cove.

Here are the results for this year’s Frenchy’s Rum Run: Beachcats: 1st: Sinbad the Sinner, Bob Martinez; 2nd: Kodama, Lance Inoue. Spinnaker: 1st: Toublemaker, Rod Abbot; 2nd: Majic Dragon, Mike Hopper; 3rd: Fleeboflam, Matthew McGrath. ORCA: 1st: No Regrets, Brian Stanton.

An awards ceremony was held on July 12.
