Yanmar named the “Official Marine Engines Partner” for America’s Cup

BERMUDA ― Yanmar Co. Ltd. is the official marine engines partner of the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda. The engine manufacturer will sponsor the spectator vessel and equip the VIP shuttle boat with Yanmar’s diesel engines.
Spectators aboard the shuttle boat can watch the sailing competition from the water.
“Through our partnership with Yanmar we can deliver a VIP experience for our guests,” Russell Coutts, CEO of the America’s Cup Event Authority, said. “We need reliability, performance and an environmentally sound power source, and Yanmar delivers on all counts.”
Having been in business for more than 100 years, Yanmar manufactured the first compact diesel engine for practical use.
“For many years, Yanmar’s marine engines have been much loved by pleasure boat enthusiasts all over the world,” Yanmar’s President Takehito Yamaoka is quoted as saying. “As a manufacturer of performance marine engines, it gives us great pride that we have been selected for our engines’ power, environmental performance and extreme reliability to become the Official Marine Engines Partner for the 35th America’s Cup.
“Being able to support the VIP program at the America’s Cup is a great honor for us,” Yamaoka continued.
The 35th America’s Cup Match begins on June 18 as the challenger races against defending champion Oracle Team USA.
