Coast Guard Brings Santa to Alaskan Villages

KODIAK, Alaska (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard is again helping Santa visit villages on Alaska’s Kodiak Island.
Santa and his elves were flown in Dec. 6 on a Coast Guard helicopter to remote communities, including the village of Ouzinkie, as part of the annual Santa to Villages program.
The gift-giving program is sponsored by the Coast Guard Spouses Association of Kodiak as a way to give children of villages around Kodiak Island the joy of meeting Santa.
