Ferry backs into San Francisco pier, 10 injured

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Coast Guard is looking into why a ferry boat hit the piling of a San Francisco pier, causing injuries to 10 passengers.

KGO-TV reports the Blue and Gold Fleet ferry was headed to Alameda when it backed into a piling at Pier 41 the evening of Sunday, Oct. 12.

Two people suffered moderate injuries, and eight others suffered minor injuries. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The ferry was taken out of service pending the investigation.
