Balboa Angling Club to Host Newport Bay Bass Open

NEWPORT BEACH — Balboa Angling Club will host the Newport Harbor Bay Bass Open, Aug. 18. An entry fee of $60 covers a maximum of three anglers.
The competition centers on catching spotted bay bass only, with a minimum length of 13 inches. Rules specify artificial lures only; no live or dead bait and no trolling — and there will be no line testing requirements.
Lines will go in the water at 5 a.m., with lines out at 1 p.m. All fish must be weighed in by 2 p.m. at Balboa Angling Club.
A three-fish total weight will determine the winners in first through third place. An awards ceremony is scheduled at the Balboa Angling Club dock at 4 p.m.
