Snubber Identified

Following the publication of an El Reporte article about preparing boats for hurricane season — in the Aug. 5-18 issue of The Log Newspaper — I received many inquiries from boaters wanting to know where to find the interesting-looking dock line snubber shown in my photo.

Douglas Marine (douglasmarine.com) of Milan, Italy, manufactures that particular item, called a Master Mooring. On the company’s website, click “English,” then click “mooring devices,” then scroll down to “Master Mooring.” Click the photo for specifications and prices. The company regularly ships items to customers in the U.S.

I can report that two of these worked very well to keep a 59-foot Nordhavn off a concrete seawall during a 36-hour gale — and I have seen other models from this manufacturer, including the one with a big spring, in use in the Mediterranean and in Florida.
