LONG BEACH — West Marine, the world’s largest specialty retailer of boating supplies and accessories, on Feb. 4 announced its search for Southern California marine-based nonprofit organizations to be the beneficiaries of the “Cruising for a Cause” charity celebration, scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Friday, March 15.
The festivities will take place during West Marine’s Grand Reopening of its newly expanded store at 251 N. Marina Drive in Long Beach. In keeping with the company’s mission of conserving marine habitats and supporting local boating nonprofits across the country, West Marine is eager to work with Long Beach-area charities that serve the local boating, fishing, sailing and marine environmental community, the company said in a released statement.
All the proceeds from ticket sales to the “Cruising for a Cause” event — 100 percent — will go to local charities, the company announced. West Marine holds similar events around the country that help charities as varied as local youth boating programs, beach cleanups and organizations that preserve local marine life, among others.
For the $10 ticket, “Cruising for a Cause” attendees will receive food, beverages and entertainment provided by West Marine. For full details on how to apply to participate in “Cruising for a Cause,” send an inquiry via email to grantsandsponsorships@westmarine.com.
