SAN DIEGO (AP) — A woman and her two dogs were rescued March 17 from a sailboat in distress east of the Zuniga Jetty, by a boat crew from Coast Guard Station San Diego.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Henry Dunphy said the woman made a distress call, amid heavy rain and rough seas, stating her boat was flooding and drifting toward shore, and that she was unable to control it.
The Coast Guard reported that a 41-foot utility boat arrived on the scene within minutes, took the woman and dogs off the flooding boat and towed it to Shelter Island.
